CINCINNATI (WKRC) - FC Cincinnati will host USL Championship side Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC in the Quarterfinals of the 2023 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. The game will be played at TQL Stadium on Tuesday, June 6 at 7 p.m. ET.

Cincinnati advanced to the Quarterfinals after prevailing over the New York Red Bulls on Tuesday night in a penalty shootout. The Riverhounds took down the Columbus Crew, 1-0, in the Northeast group’s other Round of 16 matchup on Wednesday night.

The winner of the Cincinnati – Pittsburgh fixture will face the winner of the Southeast Quarterfinal between the USL Championship’s Birmingham Legion FC and Inter Miami CF in the Semifinals, which will take place on Wednesday, August 23. The host of the Open Cup Semifinals and Final will be determined by a draw.

The 2023 U.S. Open Cup Final is set for Wednesday, September 27.

FC Cincinnati will face the Pittsburgh Riverhounds for the second-consecutive season in the U.S. Open Cup. Last year, the Orange and Blue downed the USL Championship side in the Third Round at TQL Stadium, 2-0, after extra time.

Cincinnati are 2-0-0 all-time against Pittsburgh in the U.S. Open Cup, with one meeting coming in the club’s USL era, in the 2018 Third Round when FCC won 3-1 in Pittsburgh. June’s meeting will mark the 11th all-time matchup between FCC and Pittsburgh. The Orange and Blue are undefeated all-time against the Riverhounds, holding a 6-0-4 record against their rivals from the Steel City, including 3-0-2 in Cincinnati.

FC Cincinnati return to MLS play to face the Colorado Rapids on Saturday, at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. Kickoff is set for 9:30 p.m. ET
