Beechwood takes 4th straight 9th Region baseball title with 6-5 win over Highlands

FLORENCE, Ky. (WKRC) - Beechwood jumped out to a big lead early, just to see Highlands fight back to make it a one run game late. But the Tigers captured their fourth straight 9th Region baseball championship 6-5.

Cameron Boyd's inside-the-park home run to center field gave Beechwood a 6-1 lead in the fourth inning. The Bluebrids got three back in the bottom of that inning on Zach DeSylva's bases-loaded triple to left field.

Highlands had a player out at the plate and later had the tying run on base in the bottom of the seventh inning but could never draw even.

Beechwood advanced to the KHSAA state tournament and will play again June 1.
