COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX/WKRC) - Denzel Ward is in prime position to be the next first round Ohio State DB selected in the NFL Draft.

On Thursday, Ward will attend the 2018 NFL Draft in Dallas, along with 21 other prospects.

Ward is vying to become the fourth Ohio State corner back taken in the first round in the last three years.

Additionally, he'd become the six Ohio State defensive back taken in the first round since 2014. Joining the likes of:

  • Bradley Roby, Denver Broncos (2014)
  • Eli Apple, New York Giants (2016)
  • Marshon Lattimore, New Orleans Saints (2017)
  • Malik Hooker, Indianapolis Colts (2017
  • Gareon Conley, Oakland Raiders (2017)

Ward is an Ohio native, hailing from Macedonia, Ohio. In 2017, he was a first-team All-American (Associated Press, AFCA, and The Sporting News). Additionally, he made the all-Big Ten Conference team (media) in 2017.

He was a member of the Buckeyes from 2015-17.

Ward isn't the only Buckeye prospect in this year's class. In fact, Pro Football Focus lists six Buckeyes in the top 100 prospects. And a recent mock draft from CBS Sports has seven players from Urban Meyer's team selected. Overall, 11 from OSU were invited to the NFL Combine:

  • Denzel Ward, CB
  • Jamarco Jones, OT
  • Billy Price, C/G
  • Sam Hubbard, DE
  • Tyquan Lewis, DE
  • Jerome Baker, OLB
  • Jalyn Holmes, DE
  • Damon Webb, S
  • Chris Worley, LB
  • JT Barrett, QB
