CINCINNATI (WKRC) - The Reds on Thursday reinstated catcher Devin Mesoraco from the paternity list and placed relief pitcher Lisalverto Bonilla on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to Monday, due to right elbow inflammation.

Mesoraco welcomed a son, Luke Devin, on Sunday night.

The Reds host the San Diego Padres on Thursday at 12:35 p.m.

Mesoraco was plagued by injuries in 2015 and 2016 and been slow to fully come back this season as he has played in just 52 games and has hit just .219 with six homers and 14 RBI.

Stuart Turner started at catcher in Wednesday's 8-3 win over the Padres and hit his first career Major League homer.

Bonilla has appeared in 10 games this season, four of which were starts, and was 1-3 with an 8.10 ERA.

In his most recent appearance on Sunday against St. Louis he allowed three earned runs in 2 2/3 of relief in a 14-3 loss.
