CINCINNATI (WKRC) - Xavier baseball had its program-best 11-game win streak snapped on Friday, falling 7-6 to No. 20 UConn at Hayden Field.
That was game one of a three-game series with the Huskies. The Musketeers dropped to 21-13 overall and 3-1 in BIG EAST play.
With the game tied in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Musketeers posted three runs. Jack Housinger lead off the inning with a solo home run and Jared Cushing hit a two-run single, bringing in Matthew DePrey and Tyler DeMartino.
Two-run innings for UConn in the both sixth and the seventh innings moved the Huskies in front 7-6. Xavier would get the tying run aboard in each fo the final three innings, but was unable to bring in the run.
The Musketeers and the Huskies wrap up the series with a doubleheader on Saturday. Game one is set to start at noon.
