XU, UC, UK and OSU learn dates, times for start of NCAA Tournament
CINCINNATI (WKRC) - The NCAA Tournament selection committee revealed its official field of 68 teams and a quartet of area teams are ready to go dancing.
Xavier University will take on the winner of North Carolina Central and Texas Southern (led by former IU head coach Mike Davis) in the first-round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday in Nashville. Game time is 7:20 p.m. on TBS. The Musketeers are the No. 1 seed in the West Region, the first time in school history they have earned one of the four top seeds.
The University of Cincinnati, which won the American Athletic Conference Tournament championship on Sunday, will face No. 15 Georgia State in the first-round, also on Friday in Nashville. Game time is 2:00 p.m. on TBS. The Bearcats are the No. 2 seed in the South Region.
The University of Kentucky, which won the SEC Tournament title on Sunday, will face Davidson in the first-round on Thursday, 7:10 p.m. on Local 12. The Wildcats are the No. 5 seed in the South Region. The game takes place Thursday in Boise, Idaho.
The Ohio State University will meet No. 12 South Dakota State in the first-round. The Buckeyes are the No. 5 seed in the West Region and will also play Thursday in Boise. Tip time is expected to be just after 4:00 p.m. on TNT.
